“A testament to the true custom building experience, where the majesty of the Columbia River meets a home designed from a blank canvas.”
The Columbia is an exercise in intentional, site-specific architecture. Poised to capture the pristine, expansive vistas of the Columbia River, this 7,496-square-foot estate was built from the ground up to honor its unique geography. This luxury home design is masterfully composed to reflect the owner’s lifestyle and the land’s natural rhythm.
The Columbia exemplifies the true custom home building experience. Every architectural detail was designed not only to reflect the owner’s vision but also to integrate with the unique characteristics of this lot. This home was built from a unified vision that bridges the gap between the home’s structural engineering and the intimate nuances of its interior execution. From the hand-selected masonry to the bespoke orientation of the living spaces, the home is truly reflective of its owners.
The distinction of a true custom build is found in the depth of its personalization. For The Columbia, our lead interior designer, Kaylin, worked alongside the clients to curate a material palette that exists nowhere else. This integrated process ensured that the transitions between hand-set stone, natural wood, and artisan plaster are completely seamless, reflecting a level of distinction that only an in-house team can provide.
Our “touched by hand” philosophy means that every element of the home, from the high-performance culinary suite down to the specific placement of every electrical switch and plug, was engineered for the owner’s specific use. In this luxury custom home, functionality is never compromised for aesthetics; instead, they are woven together through a series of bespoke solutions designed to make daily life feel effortless and refined.
The primary suite is anchored by a floor-to-ceiling fireplace of natural stacked stone, a material carried in from the home’s exterior to provide architectural continuity. In a bold design move, an industrial exposed steel beam serves as the mantle, providing a grounded, modern counterpoint to the warmth of the stone. A linear gas fireplace completes this year-round retreat, which overlooks the Columbia River.
The ensuite primary bath showcases our commitment to the true custom home experience. A beautiful accent wall features a skip-trowel plaster finish by Bravura Finishes, creating a transitional texture that complements the espresso-stained walnut cabinetry. A rare Quartzite slab with subtle blue undertones was selected for the vanities to mirror the hues of the Columbia River.
The shower is finished in large-format porcelain marble tiles, paired with a natural pebble mosaic floor for a tactile, spa-like experience. The showstopper of the wellness wing is the custom-designed private sauna, featuring built-in cedar seating and a panoramic river view.
The kitchen is designed for the high-capacity entertainer. At its center is an oversized island with a single, seamless Quartzite slab, creating a flawless surface. This natural stone extends to a full-height backsplash behind the 60-inch Wolf range. Above, the custom-made industrial metal range hood with rivet detailing provides a striking focal point, balancing the warmth of the custom cabinetry.
In the upstairs bonus room, a custom glass wall partition was installed to provide a sophisticated sound barrier between the levels. This allows for acoustic privacy during movie nights or play while maintaining a constant visual connection to the great room and the river views beyond.
For younger guests and family, the home features a custom-built bunk room. These aren’t standard fixtures; they are hand-crafted Alder wood bunks with built-in shelving, individual reading sconces, and an integrated ladder, reflecting a custom touch in the home’s most playful corners.
The lower-level game room featuring a pool table and ping pong area seamlessly connects to the rest of the home to create an open-circle floor plan. By eliminating traditional doorways, we created an effortless transition from the great room to the kitchen bar area, ensuring social energy flows through the home without obstruction.
Detached from the main residence is a 2,420-square-foot athletic pavilion. This professional-grade space is engineered for peak performance, housing a full-size basketball court and integrated batting cages. It is a self-contained environment that allows for year-round training, designed with the same architectural integrity and custom touches as the primary residence.
